Services in Music & Creative Arts Therapy
I provide individualized music therapy, creative arts therapy, consultations, and piano lessons for children and adults with autism and special needs. Based in Westport, CT, I serve families throughout Fairfield County, including Greenwich, Stamford, Norwalk, Darien, New Canaan, and Fairfield, helping individuals build confidence, develop new skills, and thrive through the power of music and the arts.
CONSULTATION AND RESOURCE CENTER
The first step in discovering the right path for your child is an initial consultation and assessment meeting. Parents, siblings and caretakers are impacted by the demands of having a special needs individual in the family. Financial and emotional stress and the dynamics that occur between family members will be explored. Extensive resources for education, psychotherapy, medical attention and creative outlets are offered to all family members in this process.
Exploring and finding the right therapies, education and activities that will enhance the natural abilities and interests of your child is crucial to his/her development. I will help you identify your child's specific needs and choose those therapies, educational opportunities and activities that enhance optimum development. Once that is established, you will see your child fulfilling his/her potential and growing in confidence and self-awareness.
INTEGRATED ARTS THERAPY FOR SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN AND ADULTS
The arts provide a non-verbal language in which any individual, young or old can find meaning in personal expression. Music and art become the vehicle that allows natural relating to happen when verbal interaction is not possible. Music and art become the reflection of the individual's personality, mirroring whatever is going on in their minds. Whether anxiety or fear, limitations from behavioral issues, Autism Spectrum Disorder, developmental delays or sensory integration problems, the arts provide the best way to enhance speech and language, self-confidence and self-awareness in any special needs child or adult.
I come to your home to work with your child in their own environment, and give parents and caretakers a specific goal oriented program to do in between visits.
PIANO LESSONS
Enhancing fine motor skills and self expression through an improvisational approach to learning music
I have developed a new teaching method specifically designed for beginners on the Autism Spectrum, or for any individuals who need to learn differently. The program "Gateway", is now part of the Simply Music Company and has proven to be successful for all who have used it.

Through improvisatory fun activities, incorporating finger exercises for coordination, finger isolation and strengthening, your child can learn to play an instrument and continue throughout his/her life. Enhanced fine motor skills from learning piano has been shown to improve ability in writing, holding a pencil or pen, computer keyboard work, dressing and self-care.
